Broken Tulips

For the exhibition during the Flower Days of Anna Paulowna, the museum planted so-called Rembrandt tulips last autumn. 🌷
These tulips, known for their “broken” or beautifully striped petals, are truly stunning. In fact, Rembrandt tulips come closest to the look of the most coveted tulips during the Dutch Tulip Mania.

They are flowers you can gaze at for a long time — the intricate patterns of their stripes are simply fascinating.
Back then, however, this beauty was caused by a virus that weakened the tulips. Fortunately, we can now enjoy a safe, cultivated version of this historical marvel.
