These Rembrandt tulips — placed in front of four of my paintings during my exhibition at the Bloemendagen in Anna Paulowna — are about as close as you can get to the legendary broken tulips of the 17th century.
Their real-life petals echo the wild, flamed patterns that once captivated the Dutch during the Tulip Mania.
Back then, these striking colors were the result of a virus… today, they’re a vivid reminder of that iconic era.
